"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."
I'm reading the story of Mary Rowlandson who was captures by Indians, this was written between 1675-1699. She shares her story of how her family was murdered right in front of her, her child died in her arms, one was missing, another was being held at another camp, her husband threatened to be killed, her house and everything that she had burned and destroyed. I'm not dont reading the story yet, but she shares this verse from Psalms 27 verse 14 and it is so amazing to see that even through her suffering, I mean real suffering, something that most of us will never ever go through because times back then are so different than today, that even through her suffering, she was still praising God and waiting for Him to do His work.
Her writings became a part of history, God had great things in store for her, greater than she could ever had imagined at the time.
This just makes me think in this world today where everyone is living at such a fast pace, do we take time to awit on the Lord? We tend to anticipate and take action to get where we want to get, rather than leaving it up to our Father to do His works within us. We rush into things, we want things to happen now, we pray expecting that our Father will provide for us, but when we don't recieve things at certain times, we get discouraged. Don't you know His time is perfect? This story is such a great example of enduring hardship and persevering, how much are you enduring? We are so quick to quit when things don't go the right way, but don't you know that God has everything planned out to perfection, why do we not entrust Him and try and take matters into our own hands then? Is your trust in our Father lacking?
I remember, before God had changed me, I used to run a 1000 mph, not literally lol, trying to achieve so many things without taking the time for preparation and enduring, I just wanted to be this and be that and wanted it now, without taking the time to know how can I get there. God has taught me to just trust Him, leave it in His hands, but stay diligent and seeking Him daily so that He would teach and discipline me, that I would be molded by His mighty hands.
I share this with you because in this world today, it's so easy to forget that everything is in His control because we are so busy trying to control everything around us, trying to control our lives. If we entrust Him, He will provide us with everything we need whether its finances, comfort, peace, love, joy, etc, whatever it may be, He will give it to you, but just wait, be patient upon the Lord and He will answer in good time, for His time is perfect. Don't be anxious, but be humbled, I love this passage
Matthew 23:12
"For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."
Humble yourselves and wait upon the Lord and you will be exalted!
In Christ,
